Tractor trailer with ‘high value’ cargo stolen from Cambridge business

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating separate thefts, involving three transport trucks and one tractor trailer, on Dec. 29.

They said the Freightliner trucks were taken from an unnamed business in North Dumfries around 1:20 a.m.

At 4:30 p.m. the same day, a tractor trailer was stolen from an unnamed business in Cambridge.

“The tractor trailer was located by police,” a media release said. “As a result, [a] high value of stolen cargo was recovered in another jurisdiction.”

They did not share what the cargo was, the value of the items, or where they were found.

Police urged business owners to implement the following safety measures to deter thieves:

• Ensure warehouses, transport routes and parking areas are secured with appropriate fencing, adequate lighting and controlled access points.
• Utilize GPS tracking systems from for cargo, supported by proper lighting and surveillance measures.
• Ensure all vehicle doors are always locked and that keys are never left inside unattended vehicles.
