Pat Doherty, longtime hockey volunteer, dies at age 87

A fixture in Kitchener’s hockey community has died at the age of 87.

Pat Doherty was known in local hockey circles as “Mr. Hockey,” for his four decades of involvement in seemingly every facet of the game.

The longtime teacher coached minor hockey teams for many years, and also served as the president of the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association.

One of the arenas at the Activa Sportsplex was named after Doherty.
