One dead following crash in Cambridge; medical condition suspected

A 53-year-old man was pronounced dead in hospital following a single-vehicle crash in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police say the Cambridge man was driving southbound on Water Street when his vehicle left the roadway.

“(It) veered off the road, went through a fence and then ended up underneath a footbridge,” says Acting Sgt. Tim Boniface.

The driver was taken to Cambridge Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

His identity has not been released.

Police say they’ve heard from witnesses that the man may have been in medical duress at the time of the crash.

“We suspect there may be a medical condition involved,” says Boniface.
