Man killed in Cambridge motel fire

The Ontario Fire Marshall is leading the investigation into a fatal fire at a Cambridge motel. CTV’s Heather Senoran reports.

A 53-year-old man has died following a fire at a Cambridge motel.

Crews with the Cambridge Fire Department were called to the Super 8 on Hespeler Road around 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where Waterloo Regional Police said he was pronounced dead.

The fire was determined to have started in one of the motel rooms.

One of the windows on the second floor of the building was broken, but was boarded up by Monday.

The fire has now been deemed accidental.

According to police, the Ontario Fire Marshall is leading the investigation.
