Man charged for allegedly assaulting police officer during Fergus arrest

A man has been charged with mischief and assaulting a peace officer as part of an investigation in Fergus.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were called to Belsyde Avenue on Monday around 1:45 p.m.

A 35-year-old Fergus man was charged with mischief for destroying or damaging property, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failure to comply with an undertaking.

As he was being arrested, police said the man became ‘combative’ and additional charges were laid for assaulting a peace officer and mischief under $5,000.
