Fuel spills close eastbound lanes of Highway 403 near Brantford

Ontario Provincial Police say two separate crashes involving transport trucks have closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 403 near Brantford.

Both happened between Middle Townline Road and Rest Acres Road around 6:30 a.m. Friday.

In a social media post, Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said crews were still cleaning up 300 to 600 litres of spilt diesel fuel as of 10 a.m.

Heavy tows were also working to remove the trucks from the road.

No one was seriously hurt in the collisions.

“One driver was transported [to hospital] with only minor injuries, the other driver walked away,” Sanchuck said.

Drivers were warned the highway’s eastbound lanes could stay closed for several more hours.
