Fergus driver learns hard lesson on school safety zones

A driver from Fergus has lost their licence for 30 days after police said they were caught speeding through a community safety zone on the first day of school.

Members of the Wellington Country Ontario Provincial Police were keeping a close eye on the roads when they spotted a driver travelling at “a high rate of speed” directly in front of a school on Garafraxa Street East at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

A 37-year-old was charged with stunt driving in a community safety zone and speeding in a community safety zone.

Their vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and their licence suspended.
