Fake job offer leads to real police investigation in Brantford

Job hunters in Brantford, Ont. are being warned about a scam involving a fake employment opportunity.

The Brantford Police Service said a resident told them they had responded to what appeared to be a legitimate job posting online. The victim was eventually told they had been chosen for the position and they were given a work schedule and onboarding information. However, during that process, the victim was also told to send money through multiple transactions to secure the job.

The victim then reached out to the company directly and learned they were not hiring and had no knowledge of the post.
