Waterloo Regional Police are investigating damage to telecommunication cables that resulted in a “widespread” internet outage on Friday afternoon. The wires targeted were located near Speedsville Road in Cambridge. While nothing was stolen, the damage was described as “extensive.” “Repair crews worked throughout the night to restore services,” police said.
