Crashes reported on slippery roads

Vehicles were slipping and sliding all over the roads Friday morning as southwestern Ontario was hit with another blast of winter weather.

Traffic was backed up on Highway 401 following a collision involving two tractor trailers.

“We’ve got a full closure of the eastbound 401 just past Guelph Line, between Cambridge and Milton,” Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video posted to social media.

Debris, he added, was strewn across all lanes of traffic.

The snow was also an issue on Highway 8 in Kitchener.

OPP said vehicles were moving slowly near Sportsworld due to the slippery conditions.

“It is slick out there,” Schmidt said. “Give yourself lots of space, lots of time. Slow down.”
