Cracked brake rotor and damaged tire found during Puslinch commercial motor vehicle blitz

More than a dozen commercial motor vehicles have been taken off the road following a commercial motor vehicle blitz in Puslinch, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Guelph Police Service, the Halton Regional Police Service, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance teamed up for the initiative on Thursday.

OPP said 29 vehicles were stopped and inspected, leading to 13 commercial motor vehicles being placed out of service due to imminent safety hazards.

All told, 48 charges were laid for various reasons and 15 warnings were issued.

Inspectors said they found one vehicle with a ‘significant gash’ in its tire and another with a cracked brake rotor.
