Suspect wanted on Canada-wide warrant for Kitchener stabbing arrested

A wanted man is in police custody just hours after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest. CTV's Karis Mapp reports.

A wanted man is in police custody just hours after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

The suspect, a 38-year-old man, was wanted following a stabbing in Kitchener on Sunday.

Police were called to the Victoria Street North and Frederick Street area around 1:25 p.m.

The victim, a 49-year-old Kitchener man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Monday evening, police announced they were looking for a suspect who they considered to be armed and dangerous.

By 9 p.m., police said they had located and arrested the suspect and he was being held for a bail hearing.

Investigators believe the stabbing was a targeted incident and the suspect and victim knew each other.
