Man charged with murdering 2 people in Langley, B.C.

An Alberta man is facing murder charges after two people were found dead at a rural property in Langley, B.C., last week.

Mounties initially said they were called to the 21000 block of 16 Avenue for a report of a “suspicious incident” and found the deceased inside a home.

In an update Monday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said the victims were an 18-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man who lived together in the residence.

Police said they will not be releasing their names out of respect for their families’ privacy and “because it is not needed to further the investigation.”

After interviewing witnesses and following tips from the public, IHIT says a suspect was identified and arrested on Sunday.

Cregg Lafferty-Tuccaro, 33, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder on Monday.

“Mr. Lafferty-Tuccaro had no prior police history in B.C. and investigators believe this to be an isolated incident where parties were known to each other,” IHIT wrote in a statement.

He remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 11.

“This was a tragic incident and our hearts break for the victims’ families as they grieve the sudden loss of their loved ones,” IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong said, in the statement. “Our thoughts are with them as well as the first responders and support workers who responded to this call. Through teamwork and persistence, IHIT investigators gathered the evidence needed to secure charges, which we hope will support the healing of those impacted.”
