A Cambridge man is facing multiple charges after Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a driver asleep behind the wheel and allegedly discovered drugs and signs of impairment. Police said officers were called to the area of Booty Lane and Lena Crescent in Cambridge at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Friday after witnesses reported a vehicle stopped at an intersection with the driver appearing to be asleep while the engine was running. Officers located the vehicle and found the driver asleep in the driver’s seat. According to police, the man showed signs of impairment after being awakened and was subsequently arrested. Officers seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with cash. Further investigation determined the driver was prohibited from driving and was operating a vehicle while under suspension, police said. A 39-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with multiple offences, including operation while impaired, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, operation while prohibited and dangerous operation.
