A yearly event in Kitchener gave people the chance to satisfy their tastebuds while helping support people facing food insecurity. Tiny Home Takeout’s ‘Hunger No More’ event returned to Duke Street in Kitchener on Sunday, offering a bevy of bites from local restaurants, musical treats and a silent auction. The food festival serves as an important fundraiser for the initiative that offers fresh cooked meals for anyone who needs one. Volunteers serve food from takeout windows of tiny homes in front of St. Mary’s Church at 56 Duke Street West Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and at 505 Franklin Street North in Kitchener Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Through their tireless dedication, they feed hundreds of people every night. The event on Duke Street was free, with more than 20 local chefs offering up free samples of their dishes, but donations were gratefully accepted. Every dollar raised will be spent to continue striving toward Tiny Home Takeout’s mission of providing dignified meals to anyone, no matter their circumstances. Anyone who couldn’t make it to the event is encouraged to visit their online auction to bid on everything from a photography package to cottage getaways to a yacht excursion. This is the fifth year for the event.
