5 months after fire, Atwood Resources again processing dead stock

An Ontario rendering plant that was out of commission for over a year while it rebuilt from a fire is now processing all the dead stock they're getting.

Atwood Resources spokesman Tom Smith says the new facility allows them to do a better job of locking in their per-ton operating costs.

Smith says the plant runs sheer on volume, so the more farmers that use the service, the cheaper it will be for everybody in the long run.

He estimates they're currently running about 20 per cent below the volume they were at before the fires.
