Health Canada has announced a recall for fabric roller blinds in Canada, manufactured by Interiors by Better Shade, due to a strangulation hazard. In a recall notice posted Thursday, the agency warned customers that the recalled product – manufactured in Ontario – does not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and poses a strangulation hazard. The roller blinds, which come in several colours and fabrics, contain a cassette headrail system and a plastic hem grip pull system, Health Canada said, adding that the shades are equipped with “a continuous loop chain lift, and a clear plastic shroud.” “Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard and even death,” the notice said. The company reported that 86 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, between December 2022 and December 2025. No incidents or injuries have been reported, the company said, as of Jan. 23. Meanwhile, Health Canada is advising customers to use cordless window coverings. Consumers are advised to “immediately” stop using the recalled product and contact the manufacturer for a kit and additional instructions.
