An Edmonton family says a Calgary vacation took a traumatic turn after returning from a day trip to Banff to find a homicide scene outside their Airbnb.. Calgary police were called to the community of Rosscarrock just before 11 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a disturbance. Arriving officers discovered a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he later died. Two people were arrested in connection with the incident, and police say they were known to one another. Amanda Giroux said she and her daughters had chosen the neighbourhood because it seemed quiet. “It was a beautiful day in the mountains,” Giroux said. “Until we arrived (back in Calgary).” Giroux said explaining the violence to her children was difficult, adding that “a loss of life is a loss of life.” Neighbour Rajeev Shah said he saw the injured man crawling onto his lawn shortly after the stabbing. Although police were already on scene, Shah said the incident left his family shaken and unable to sleep. Shah, who has lived in the neighbourhood for about six months, said the area is normally quiet and peaceful. The Calgary Police Service homicide unit says those involved knew each other and there is no threat to the public. Two people remain in custody and an autopsy is pending. “Investigators continue to speak with witnesses and ask anyone with information about this incident to contact police by calling 403-266-1234,” CPS said in a release.
