Water quality advisory issued for beach west of Edmonton

Blue-green algae has been found at Half Moon Lake, and AHS is warning people about fecal bacteria in Hubbles Lake.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is advising people not to swim or wade in the water at Allan Beach on Hubbles Lake due to high levels of fecal bacteria.

At current levels, gastrointestinal illness may result from consuming the water at Allan Beach, said AHS.

Skin, ear and eye infections may also occur if exposed to the contaminated water.

Hubbles Lake is located about 40 kilometres west of Edmonton.
