Taylor Swift, Scooby Doo: Oil Kings release 2025-26 theme night schedule

The lower bowl of Rogers Place is already sold out for the Oil Kings’ most popular home game of the season, the teddy bear toss on Dec. 7, the team revealed along with the 2025-26 promotional schedule on Friday.

The teddy bear toss game isn’t the only theme night back by popular demand; so are Star Wars night, princess day and kids takeover day, among others.

New to the schedule this year is crazy hair day, Hot Wheels night, and a Scooby Doo day, on which the players will wear Mystery Gang-inspired jerseys.

The team is also jumping on the Taylor Swift craze, dedicating their first home game to the popstar. After the Sept. 20 game against Red Deer, tribute artist Carla Sacco will perform a 45-minute Swift concert. Bracelet-making tables will also be set up on the concourse.

“Why not?” asked Kevin Radomski, the Oil Kings’ director of business operations, at a launch event on Friday. “It’s gonna be a ton of fun. We’ve never done it before. We’ve done Elvis night before.”

He added, “We love to have fun. Edmonton Oil Kings hockey is all about families coming for great entertainment. We have three thrilling periods of hockey every game – but more than that.”

The Oil Kings, which were eliminated from the Western Hockey League playoffs in the first round by Prince Albert, have won their first two pre-season games and will next play in Calgary on Friday.
