Police investigate fatal Friday motorcycle crash on north side

Edmonton police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened late Friday afternoon on the north side.

Police said in a Sunday afternoon media release the driver of a Kawasaki motorcycle heading northbound on 127 Street hit a Subaru making a left-hand turn “on a freshly-turned red light from the southbound lane on 127 Street.” The crash happened at 5:27 p.m., police said.

They said the 31-year-old man driving the motorcycle was thrown from it and died at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured and stayed at the scene, police said, adding they believe the motorcycle’s speed was a factor in the crash.
