A man has been arrested after reports of a person wielding a knife in northern Alberta on Wednesday. Around 8 a.m. High Prairie RCMP received a call about a man muttering to himself and swinging and pointing a long knife that they described as a machete. When police arrived, they determined the man was known to them and had a history of violent behaviour. The man then ran into a wooded area. Police released a suspect description and warned the public to not approach the man and instead contact police. It sent an update about two hours later saying the man had been found and arrested thanks to information provided by community members. High Prairie is about 370 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
