Hope Mission calls for Edmontonians to donate amid Canada Post strike

Hope Mission is concerned about the impact the Canada Post strike could have on donations and is asking people to donate by phone or online.

As the Canada Post strike enters week two, Hope Mission is asking people to donate online, over the phone, or in person to help fill the organization’s coffers before the cold weather sets in.

Hope Mission says it provides more than 3,000 meals per day to people facing hunger and homelessness in Edmonton.

This time of year is critical for the charity as it heads into the cold and Thanksgiving season.

“The generosity of Albertans is what makes it possible for us to keep our doors open to everyone who comes seeking help,” Kevin Wiebe of Hope Mission said in a news release.

“This postal strike creates a barrier to supporting our neighbours in need, but it doesn’t have to stop life-saving care from getting to where it’s needed most if gifts of compassion are sent in online, over the phone, or dropped off in person.”
