Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada is back on the road, educating the country’s youth on the dangers of drunk driving. Car crashes are a leading cause of death among Canadian youth, according to MADD Canada. Alcohol, cannabis and other drugs are involved in more than half of those crashes. MADD Canada and Kenan Advantage Group (KAG Canada) are addressing the issue through MADD Canada’s School Program. The program took its first stop at M.E LaZerte High School. • The information you need to know, sent directly to you: Download the CTV News App “Hundreds of people are killed every year and even more are injured,” said Don Regan, chief operating officer of MADD Canada. More than 1,000 presentations will educate grade 7 through 12 students. Each presentation will showcase dangers and consequences that come with driving impaired. Presentations are offered virtually, in the classroom or a traditional assembly. “It doesn’t have to happen. It’s 100 per cent preventable,” Regan added. More information can be found online.
