Today’s the Autumnal Equinox and it looks like it’ll start to feel a little more like autumn. The “hot” start to September is coming to an end. That said, it’s not looking overly cold through the last week-and-a-half of the month. In fact, we’ll stay above average through this week and probably next week as well. But...through the first 21 days of the month, over half have been above 25 C (12 days). Only one day has had a high below 20 C (19.4 on the 4th). The average high through the first 21 days has been 25.6 C! That’s about 8 C warmer than the long-term average. It’s also warmer than the July average high of 23.9 and really close to the August average high of 25.7 C. This past weekend we hit a record-tying high of 29.4 C on Saturday (tying the Sept. 20 record high from 1922). That’s probably the last day of 25+ temperatures for the rest of the month (possibly the year). Today and Tuesday should hit the low 20s for afternoon highs. Then...we’ll likely be in the 15 to 20 degree range for the rest of the week. Showers and periods of rain capped off Sunday across most of central and northeastern Alberta. Skies look fairly clear for the next couple days, though. Sunny today and Tuesday, then some increasing cloud for Wednesday/Thursday. Thursday evening looks to be the next-best chance at seeing some showers. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mainly sunny.
