Edmonton Oil Kings are asking fans for sock donations

The Edmonton Oil Kings are asking fans to bring an extra pair of socks to games this weekend for the annual "Socktober" campaign.

The Edmonton Oil Kings are hosting another season of #Socktober.

In partnership with Operation Friendship Seniors Society (OFSS), #Socktober helps collect socks for local seniors in need.

“Socks are a basic necessity item that people take for granted every day. For those that don’t have any, we are able to give them socks and let them know that someone cares about them,” said Jimmy Morrison, OFSS Community Relations Manager.

On Saturday, Oct. 25., and Sunday, Oct. 26., fans are encouraged to bring and donate new pairs of socks.

“A warm pair of socks provides not only warmth but hope for a better tomorrow,” Morrison added.

With each sock donation, fans will receive a voucher for two tickets to the Nov. 30., home game against the Saskatoon Blades.

As part of the campaign, OFSS has a goal of collecting 10,000 socks.
