This year, there’s been no shortage of unforgettable pop culture moments, viral performances and trends. With Halloween a couple days away, these moments are expected to come to life on the streets and at your doorstep. Whether it’s a movie character, a TikTok trend or celebrity, every year no matter the age, people embrace the day to walk the streets dressed as anyone. Jess Jackson, 100.3 The Bear’s Halloween Howler host, spoke with CTV News Edmonton to discuss this year’s hottest Halloween costume trends. “Any sort of big movie and TV show people will try to recreate,” said Jackson. “I think I know three kids dressing up as a character from KPop Demon Hunters,” she added. While adults aren’t predicted to hop on that trend, 2025 saw a variety of movie characters ready to recreate. “Happy Gilmore 2 was a really big one this year so I predict a resurgence in Adam Sandler costumes,” the radio show host said. Local costume shop Theatre Garage Costumes is open year-round and welcomes customers to get a head start on costume plans. “This year more than ever costumes are all about creativity. This is the year that people are choosing to DIY and put their own spin on classic looks,” said Christy Greenwood, owner of Theatre Garage Costumes. Greenwood also said KPop Demon Hunters is the costume of the year for kids. • The information you need to know, sent directly to you: Download the CTV News App Although 2025 trends are fun to recreate, expect to see the Halloween classics that never disappoint. “We are going to see a lot of the usual suspects like Wayne’s World or the Super Mario Brothers,” said Jackson. “Vampires and superheroes are always a go-to,” Greenwood added. Sometimes what makes a costume trendy is its price tag and accessibility. “A lot of people are very last minute but finding pieces at home, a thrift store or on Facebook Marketplace not only helps the budget but adds to the overall experience of Halloween,” said Jackson. A lot of costumes will see kids and adults trying to recreate. “Wicked will be a really big one this year. I think we’ll see Elphabas and Glindas of all ages this Halloween,” Jackson said. While movie characters are an easy go to, recreating specific current events can become a unique costume. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s proposal will never get old. And who doesn’t love a wildcard moment? We all remember the Coldplay concert incident. With Halloween two days away, there’s still plenty of time to find the perfect Adam Sandler costume from your dad’s closet.
