A man from St. John’s is facing a second-degree murder charge following the death of another man, according to police in Newfoundland. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the province’s police service, said Jordan Woods, 27, was scheduled to appear in court Friday. It was around 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 31 when RNC patrol officers responded to a home in the Rabbittown area, near downtown, where they found a deceased 28-year-old man, said police in a news release Friday. Police and the chief medical examiner subsequently determined that the man’s death was suspicious, reads the release. “As a result of an investigation by the RNC Major Crime Unit … Woods has been charged with second-degree murder,” it said. The RNC says it’s offering its “sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” and is asking anyone with information that could help in the investigation to call police at 709-729-8000.
