Target releases full list of 2013 Canadian store openings

Target Canada released a list of locations Thursday for stores it plans to open in 2013, with the mid-range but style-conscious stores slated to open in 125 locations from Newfoundland to B.C.

In a news release, Target said it also planned to announce at least a further 10 locations later in the year.

"Construction has already begun on our first set of stores and we are excited to see the transformation as the Target brand comes to life in Canada," said Target Canada President Tony Fisher in a release Thursday.

"We have stores spanning from coast-to-coast and we can't wait to open our doors in Canada and deliver on our Expect More. Pay Less. brand promise."

Target earlier purchased leasehold interests for Zellers stores across the country, and the new Target locations will be popping up in the renovated department stores.

Each location will be closed for between six and nine months for renovations, with over $10 million spent at each location according to the release. Each store is expected to employ 150 to 200 people.
