A list of some major attacks on foreign soil that claimed Canadian lives

A list of some of the attacks since 2000 that claimed Canadian lives:

Sept 11, 2001: Twenty-six Canadians died in the Sept. 11 attacks which felled the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City.

September 18, 2006: Canadian soldiers Pte. David Byers, Cpl. Shane Keating, Cpl. Keith Morley and Cpl. Glen Arnold were killed in suicide bicycle bomb attack while on foot patrol in Panjwaii, Afghanistan.

April 8, 2007: Six Canadian soldiers were killed and two were injured in Afghanistan when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb. Sgt. Donald Lucas, Cpl. Aaron E. Williams, Pte. Kevin V. Kennedy, Pte. David R. Greenslade, Cpl. Christopher P. Stannix and Cpl. Brent Poland died in the incident.

July 4, 2007: Six Canadian soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb west of Kandahar city in Afghanistan. The soldiers' names were Cpl. Cole Bartsch, Capt. Matthew Johnathan Dawe, Pte. Lane Watkins, Cpl. Jordan Anderson, Master Cpl. Colin Bason and Capt. Jefferson Francis.

December 30, 2009: In Afghanistan, soldiers Sgt. George Miok, 28; Cpl. Zachery McCormack, 21, both of Edmonton; Sgt. Kirk Taylor, 28, of Yarmouth, N.S., and Pte. Garrett Chidley, 21, of Cambridge, Ont., were killed when their armoured vehicle hit an IED in southern Kandahar city. Canadian journalist Michelle Lang, 34, was also killed.

January 15, 2016: Six Canadians died when jihadist attackers stormed the Splendid Hotel and nearby Cappuccino Cafe in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. All six were from Quebec, according to the provincial government. At least 28 people from 18 different countries died in the attacks.
