One lane of the Whoop-Up Drive Bridge was closed by the city Thursday as a precautionary measure following a fire underneath the bridge earlier this week. The city posted on its website that it had closed the outside westbound lane on the west end of the bridge to allow a full assessment of the bridge to be completed following Wednesday’s fire. Engineers have already determined that the bridge is safe to drive over. The speed limit on the bridge remains 70 km/h, but motorists are asked to drive with care in the impacted area. Investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
