Vulcan couple facing enjoyable choices after winning 250K in Lotto 6/49 draw

Norman and Karen Kristjansson recently won over $250,000 in a Lotto 649 draw held Oct. 11.

Vulcan resident Norman Kristjansson was used to one aspect of the ritual of buying a Lotto 6/49 ticket with his wife Karen.

“I’m used to mostly paying for them,” said Norman.

What he wasn’t used to was the news Karen delivered to him after she checked out the winning numbers on the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) website for the Oct. 11 draw.

“I go on the WCLC website to look at the winning numbers on the draws,” Karen said. “When we saw that our numbers matched, Norm couldn’t believe it!”

The couple discovered they were $250,853.20 richer.

Now that the realization has sunk in, the Kristjanssons are trying to decide how to spend it.

“Oh, [we’ve had] lots of discussions,” said Karen.

“No decisions,” said Norman.

“It’s just very exciting,” Karen continued. “We’re really happy to have won!”

The Kristjanssons bought their winning ticket from Market Street Vulcan at 221 2 Street S. They matched five of six numbers chosen in the Oct. 11 draw, plus the bonus number 5, 23, 25, 40, 41, 43 and bonus 34.
