Stephen Avenue assault investigated by Calgary police

Calgary police are hoping to identify two men allegedly responsible for a downtown assault.

The fight happened in the 200 block of Stephen Avenue S.W., in front of The Unicorn, just before 2 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.

Police say a pub patron was standing outside when he was approached by a man who had been kicked out of The Unicorn earlier for “causing a disturbance.”

“The suspect became increasingly aggressive with the patron, prompting several bystanders to intervene,” police said in a Friday news release.

“At this time, a second suspect became involved. The two suspects assaulted the initial victim, as well as one of the individuals who attempted to intervene, before fleeing the area on foot.”

Police say injuries to the victims were not serious and neither had to go to hospital.

The suspects were last seen walking east on Stephen Avenue.

Both are described as being between 25 and 40 years old and about 6’ tall with a slim build.

One of the men had dark hair and a beard, and was wearing black pants and white shoes and no shirt.

The second man was wearing a black Roots hoodie, a baseball cap, black pants and black shoes.
