STARS air ambulance says X/Twitter account hacked; is now working to take it back

STARS air ambulance says it’s working to regain control of its X/Twitter account after it was hacked, leaving the not-for-profit locked out.

A spokesperson told CTV News that hackers pinned a post to the account on Wednesday asking for funds.

The charity, which carries out lifesaving medical missions, is warning followers to ignore any upcoming posts and to not click on any links until the matter is resolved.

STARS says its Facebook and Instagram accounts were not compromised.

On its Instagram account, STARS posted to say it is “actively working to resolve this issue.”

“In the meantime, please do not engage with any posts from our X/Twitter account and do not click on any links shared on that platform,” STARS wrote.

“Please note, this issue was limited to X/Twitter only and our other social media and channels are safe.

“Further, we do not request donations through external links on social media.”
