Police are still far from believing an 11-year-old Calgary boy missing for roughly a week is dead. Scott Guterson said on Wednesday, “but that day is not today.” “We’re doing everything we can to find Parker and bring him home,” Guterson said. The search entered its seventh day on Wednesday. Parker went missing from his day home in the 0 to 100 block of Connaught Drive N.W. sometime between 11:08 and 11:41 a.m. this past Thursday. He is neurodivergent and non-verbal. Police released a map Tuesday outlining his confirmed movements as captured by CCTV. As of Wednesday afternoon, that map still best represented Parker’s last known movements. Calgarians are still asked to check and recheck their properties. On Wednesday, Guterson asked in particular that landlords and Realtors of vacant homes along several streets be searched. Guterson asked that anyone on vacation and unable to check contact police. Those streets include: If Parker were in a vacant home, Guterson said it’s “our understanding he would be able to use the tap to get water and he would know to use the fridge to get food.” On Wednesday, police posted a video to social media showing “what we mean when we ask residents to ‘check their property.’” “What might not make sense to you could make sense to Parker,” police said. “Parker is known to enter accessible buildings and can lock doors behind him. “Check homes, garages, sheds, vehicles, trailers, RVs, storage areas, under decks, between fences and hedges and anywhere a child may seek shelter from the heat.” Police said to stick to “your own property and any public spaces you are permitted to access.” “Do not enter or search private property without permission,” police said. Hundreds of police officers and trained volunteers are involved in the search for Parker. Guterson called the support from the community “heartwarming and extraordinary.” And he asked that they keep it up.
