RCMP officer injured in crash in Okotoks

Airdrie RCMP are warning the public of a suspicious male and vehicle that has been seen driving in school zones.

Emergency crews were called to a crash between a truck and an RCMP cruiser on Thursday morning that sent a police officer to hospital with minor injuries.

Paramedics responded to the crash near Northridge Drive and Elma Street W at about 8:00 a.m.

The whole thing started when the officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

The vehicle sped away and hit several parked vehicles.

RCMP say the officer then pursued the suspect vehicle and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection.

Police say the driver of the civilian vehicle was not injured and the officer was taken to hospital with a broken arm and was treated and released.

The suspect vehicle was located soon after and police arrested a 24-year-old male and a 16-year-old male without incident.

Police say both are facing multiple charges.
