RCMP called to ‘serious’ assault at Rocky View County’s CrossIron Mills mall

RCMP in Alberta say there was a heavy police presence at a mall north of Calgary on Monday evening as officers responded to a serious assault.

Mounties say they were called to the CrossIron Mills mall in Rocky View County for a report of a stabbing.

They urged people to avoid the northeast parking lot of the mall, near the Toys R Us entrance.

Footage from the scene shows a black SUV with it’s passenger door open and a yellow cloth with red splotches covering it on the ground.

Mounties say one person was stabbed and they believed the incident was targeted.

They added the suspects fled the scene in a black SUV.

The incident did not affect shoppers inside the mall, which remained open during the investigation.
