‘Incident’ or ‘conduct matter’ involving minor hockey players prompts RCMP investigation

An “incident” or “conduct matter” involving members of a Calgary minor hockey team is under investigation by the RCMP.

It happened on Oct. 11 in Red Deer, and Mounties from that city are leading the investigation.

Because those involved are youths, details are few, and CTV News is not naming the team.

CTV News did receive a written statement from a spokesperson for the team’s association, acknowledging something occurred earlier this month while the team was on the road.

“A conduct matter involving members of one of our youth teams was brought to our attention during a recent team trip,” the statement read.

“The association took immediate action and initiated a formal review under our code of conduct, including notification to the RCMP.”

Monday’s statement noted, “Law enforcement confirmed that no criminal offence occurred.”

It also said “the investigation is now nearing conclusion” and that the association “will provide an appropriate response” at that time.

“Our priority remains the well-being, development and guidance of all athletes in our care,” the statement read.

Alberta RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney also provided a written statement.

“RCMP can confirm that Red Deer RCMP is investigating an incident, which happened on Oct. 11, 2025, in Red Deer, involving a youth hockey team,” she wrote.

“The investigation is in its early stages, so we cannot comment further at this time.

“We would ask the public to refrain from commenting or speculating online as to what occurred until Red Deer RCMP is fully aware of the facts.”
