High carbon monoxide levels force evacuation of Calgary condo building

Dozens of people were forced from a northeast Calgary condo building over concerns about high carbon monoxide levels.

Dozens of people were forced from a northeast Calgary condo building on Monday over concerns about high carbon monoxide levels.

The Calgary Fire Department was called to the building, located in the 0-100 block of Saddlestone Way N.E., after CO alarms activated.

Firefighters found CO levels as high as 150 ppm on the fourth floor.

An estimated 60 to 70 people had to leave their units and be assessed on scene by paramedics.

No one required hospitalization.

A spokesperson for the fire department says it appears the high CO levels were from a rooftop heating unit.
