Dense fog formed over Calgary and across portions of southern Alberta early Wednesday. The combination of a saturated surface layer, cooler overnight values and a lack of wind created the ideal conditions for low-lying fog—and prompted yellow-level fog advisories for the region, but those advisories ended mid-morning. Daytime highs will reach the high teens on Wednesday—including in Calgary—and that will be the lowest daytime high for at least a week. Zonal flow across the west will bring an infusion of warm, dry air and a persistently stable weather pattern, so temperatures are expected to continue to climb over the next few days. There will be little to no cloud cover, and wind will be mostly mild in Calgary and coming from the west, so it will not detract from the ambient temperatures. Overnight lows are expected to sit around 9 C by Saturday, compared to the average low of 4 C. The average high in Calgary this time of year is 17 C.
