Creativity of Lethbridge youth highlighted with underpass mural

A new mural in the pedestrian underpass near Father Leonard Van Tighem School is highlighting the creativity of Lethbridge youth.

The mural was designed by three artists with the help of students from Father Leonard Van Tighem.

The final artwork celebrates how kids see the world and captures their sense of wonder for future generations to enjoy.

This is the first underpass mural installed in the city and those involved are excited to show it off.

“A sense of ownership (and) a sense of pride in their community is really important and knowing they have the ability to make change in their community is really important—that they have the ability to beautify and create big, bright, beautiful things, whatever that might be,” said Layla Folkmann of Lala Art.

The pilot project serves as an informative experience for future public art program initiatives.
