Charges laid in hit and run in Temple crosswalk

A woman and her two toddlers were crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at Temple Drive and 56 Street N.E. when they were struck by a white, Honda.

Police have charged a 30-year-old man in connection to a hit and run that injured a Calgary mother just over a week ago.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Temple Drive and 56 Street NE at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 after a woman and her two toddlers were hit by a Honda in a marked crosswalk.

The woman was hit and carried on the hood of the vehicle for several a few seconds before hitting the pavement. The driver of the vehicle that hit her fled the scene.

She suffered a broken pelvis and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

The two children were also transported to hospital and were checked out and released.

Their mother remains in hospital and police say she is in stable condition.

On Friday, police arrested and charged Adnan Maqsood, 30, with criminal hit and run causing bodily harm, driving without undue care and attention and failing to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
