A Calgary church is hosting a massive Easter egg hunt Saturday. The Beddington Pentecostal Church at Centre Street and Bergen Road is hosting its annual free community Easter egg hunt until 4 p.m. “We have 40,000 eggs that we’ve stuffed with chocolate and a candy, and they’re all ready to give away,” said BP Church lead pastor Mark Williams. While 40,000 might sound like a lot of eggs, last year’s event drew thousands of Easter egg seeking children and Williams expects Saturday’s hunt will be no different. “We’ll have anywhere from three to 5,000 people show up, depending on the year,” Williams said. He said there’s plenty of activities as well to help kids burn off some of their Easter egg buzz. “We also have some bouncy houses, balloon animals (and I’m) not sure if we have the face painting today or not.” There are also draws for bicycles. Williams said the church holds the Easter egg hunt to pay tribute to the meaning of Easter. “It’s just our heart of our church, just to bless our community and show the love of Christ in a practical way,” he said. “(And) kind of be his hands and feet extended to our community.” Parking is available at the Beddington Town Centre.
