Walmart to spend $500M on updating retail stores in Canada Walmart is planning to spend $500 million in upgrades to Canadian retail, locations including extra space for e-commerce pickups, as part of their pledge to invest $3.5 billion in Canada over the next five years. On Monday, Walmart announced that it would be closing six locations in Canada. The company said in a news release that in addition to closing these stores, it plans to spend over $500 million upgrading its other stores.
