Suspicious house fire in Barrie under investigation

Barrie Fire crews spent the weekend investigating a suspicious fire that tore through a home late Friday afternoon.

It happened just after 4 p.m. at a residence on Blake Street. Six fire units were on scene by 4:20 p.m. to battle the flames.

Fire officials told CTV News that everyone inside the home was able to get out safely and no injuries have been reported.

Officials say the fire started inside the property, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.

Investigators have not said who reported the fire, but confirm it is being treated as suspicious.

The damage is extensive, and officials say the house is not livable at this time. A dollar estimate for the loss has not been released.
