Two people injured in alleged weapon assault at Midland apartment complex

Two people were wounded after being assaulted in Midland by a man with a pellet gun and a knife.

Provincial police are investigating a violent incident at a Midland apartment building that left two people injured Wednesday evening.

Southern Georgian Bay officers were called to a residential complex near King and Robert streets just before 6 p.m., following reports of an alleged assault involving a weapon.

Officers contained the building and tracked down a suspect inside the complex. The person was taken into custody without incident.

In a media release, police say they seized a knife and a pellet gun during the arrest.

Two victims were found with injuries that were later confirmed to be non-life-threatening. One of them was taken to the local hospital for treatment.

Officials say there is no ongoing threat to public safety, but the investigation remains active, with assistance from the forensic unit.
