Two commercial truck inspections lead to nearly a dozen charges

It took only two traffic stops in Caledon for police to lay 11 charges against commercial truck drivers and their companies.

Provincial police said the drivers were pulled over during recent inspections, which revealed a number of safety issues.

Among the offences were failing to stop at a red light, not using proper turn signals, and driving without working brake lights.

Police said they also noted problems with daily inspections, including missing reports, improper record keeping, and failing to ensure vehicles were properly checked before hitting the road.

Commercial motor vehicle companies are required by law to carry out daily inspections and keep accurate records. Police say this helps identify mechanical issues before they pose a danger on the road.
