Two charged after police seize drugs, samurai swords during Midland search warrant

Police say officers seized drugs and weapons during a raid at an apartment in Midland.

Two individuals are facing charges following a search warrant executed at a Midland residence as part of an ongoing investigation, where police seized a stash of drugs and samurai swords.

Officers carried out the warrant on Wednesday at an apartment on Hugel Avenue, resulting in two arrests at the scene.

Investigators say officers seized a significant amount of prohibited items, including a substantial quantity of cocaine and crack cocaine, purple fentanyl, opioid pills, three samurai swords, a Victor 8-shot pistol, drug paraphernalia, two Stihl concrete construction saws, a hunting bow, and Canadian cash.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Midland man faces a slew of charges, including possession of cocaine and opioids for trafficking, unauthorized possession of firearms and weapons, and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused is in custody awaiting a bail court appearance and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

A 35-year-old Midland woman is also charged with offences related to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including possession of cocaine and opioids for trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

She was released at the scene with a future court date scheduled.
