Township receives $35M in provincial funding to help build new homes

Ontario invests nearly $35-million to build homes in Adjala-Tosorontio.

The Ontario government is injecting millions to help build new homes in Adjala-Tosorontio.

On Wednesday, Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson announced a $34,999,995 investment for the construction of 1,966 new homes in the Simcoe County community.

Officials said the funding would be used to build a new state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant in Everett to allow for more homes to be built and help the local economy grow.

“This provincial funding removes an environmental impediment and paves the way for responsible growth in our community,” stated mayor Scott Anderson.

“Investments in our utilities and infrastructure is vital to the sustainable growth of our region and communities and we know that as our local economy grows, we need greater access to housing infrastructure to meet our regional targets,” added Simcoe County Warden Basil Clarke.

According to the province, this round of funding is part of Ontario’s more than $200 billion captial plan to build and improve critical public infrastructure and strengthen the economy.
