Tips for sandbagging amid flooding concerns

The District of Muskoka is offering some tips and tricks for the best ways to protect your home when it comes to preventing flood damage.

It says sandbagging can help to reduce the risk of flooding around your home, particularly near doors, garages and low-lying areas.

The District recommends being proactive with sandbagging, as that can make a big difference.

Firstly, it says to focus on entrance ways to the home like doors, windows and foundation openings.

It advises to stack the sandbags in a staggered pattern, similar to how bricks are stacked.

Lastly, it advises people to use a plastic sheeting behind sandbags as additional protection for the home.
